Best Pilot Training Virginia 5190 West Military Highway, Unit 30-3 Chesapeake, VA 23321
We are at Hampton Roads Executive Airport (KPVG) in western Chesapeake, near the Bowers Hill interchange where US-58, I-664, and I-264 meet. Note: this is NOT Chesapeake Regional Airport (KCPK), which is a different airport in southern Chesapeake.
Route sketches by city
Traffic varies — especially at the bridge-tunnels — so treat these as routes, not schedules, and build margin.
- Chesapeake: all-overland; head for Bowers Hill via I-64, I-464/US-17, or US-58 depending on your side of the city.
- Suffolk: US-58 East toward Bowers Hill; from Harbour View, VA-164 or I-664 South.
- Portsmouth: US-58 West / Airline Boulevard, or I-264 West — no tunnels.
- Norfolk: I-264 West through the Downtown Tunnel, or I-64 to I-664 South from the north side.
- Virginia Beach: I-264 West the full length of the Southside, or I-64 from the southern end.
- Hampton / Newport News / Peninsula: I-664 South across the Monitor–Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel to Bowers Hill is the usual pick; the HRBT (I-64) also works. Crossing times vary — plan margin.
First-visit checklist
- Government-issued photo ID (bring your passport or birth certificate when you begin formal training — TSA citizenship documentation).
- Closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothes; sunglasses recommended.
- Arrive about 15 minutes early.
- Wait at the unit entrance — your instructor will meet and escort you. Never walk onto the ramp unescorted.
- Light meal beforehand; tell your instructor if you are prone to motion sickness.
Parking specifics, entry instructions, and the exact meeting point will be published once verified on site. If you have any trouble on arrival, contact us using the details in the footer.
Weather and late arrivals
If weather looks questionable we contact you before your drive whenever possible; flight lessons convert to ground instruction rather than wasting your trip. Running late? Let us know — lessons are scheduled with realistic buffers, and honesty beats speeding.
